Food conglomerate QFC sells fruit, poultry, milk, marine products, drinks, and other products. The company was founded by Quality Food Centers Inc. in 1994.
At the grocery store in Boise, Idaho in 1940, Jack Croco began working for Albertson’s Groceries. By 1950, he was the northwest district manager for the Albertson chain and opened the first Albertson grocery store in Seattle.
Vern Fortin, the founder of Fine Candies and former chairman of Van de Kamp’s Dutch Bakeries, founded QFC in 1962 in Bellevue (Lake Hills Thriftway).
By 1960, his store was merged with QFC by management of Croco. He sold the combined company in 1986 to Seattle Investment Company Sloan, Adkins & Co.
